Ricardo is a Guatemalan illustrator and designer. While studying graphic design in college, he was introduced to the tools of the trade – Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator – and he continued to hone these digital skills along with traditional techniques such as ink and stippling.

Since 2007, Near began his professional design career, mostly working on print campaign design for ad agencies. At the same time, he continued to develop personal illustration projects that went on to be displayed in collective and solo exhibitions. Near has collaborated with brands like Jeep, Johnson & Johnson, Pringles, Bajaj, Blowpill (band) and numerous others.

In 2010, Near was featured on the cover of the January edition of Digital Arts and in 2011 he came third place in the Latin American solo category of the All Ironlak Graffiti Competition. He participated in the Meeting of Styles in Mexico in 20214 and in Costa Rica in 2018. In 2021, Near was featured in Revista Capiusa XV años edition as one of the 50 best Guatemalan illustrators between 2006–2021.

Presently, Near is a full-time designer, tattooist and illustrator, using his experience in design and illustration to develop a signature style and expertise in fine-line tattooing. He aims to help people reach their business and personal goals by creating a positive impact through design, illustration and art.
